Gorgeous Showa Era vintage Japanese komon kimono in a cream yellow colour with large maple leaves in golden yellow and two shades of green.
Komon kimonos were meant to be worn for trips outside the home, whether it be shopping or visiting friends, so their patterns tend be smaller and a bit more lowkey, but still beautiful. You could think of it as the Japanese equivalent of a pretty day dress.
This particular silk kimono has a falling maple leaves pattern woven into the fabric, as well as the larger printed leaves over the top, and has the distinctive dip dye ombre effect on the inner silk lining that marks it as being from the 70s (late Showa Era). This pattern is meant to be worn in late Summer to herald the coming Autumn.
